FAQ's - I got questions!
Do I have to be taking private voice lessons or be in my school's choir to participate?
No! This festival is open to ALL who wish to register!
I'm not so sure about the dancing part - do I have to do the dance?
First of all, you don't HAVE to do anything, but more importantly, you don't have to be a good dancer to have fun in the dance audition room. There will be two options for the dance room: "I'm a mover!" or "I'm a dancer!" If all you can do is move a little while you sing, great. If you really wanna show us your super fly dance moves, great. You get major props for showing up and giving it your best effort. Directors want to see more than your ability to dance, they are looking at your attitude as well. If you give it all you've got, even if it's not the right moves, that scores major points in the "this person looks like fun" category.
Do I need to bring an accompanist or a backing tracks?
Nope! Your registration fee helps to cover our amazing audition accompanist, Janet Carr-Campbell. However, you MUST bring sheet music for her and we will cover how to prepare your music.
What is a monologue?
A monologue is a solo SPEAKING part by an actor in a play, musical or movie.
Do I have to do a monologue?
Again, you don't HAVE to do anything, but if you show up, you'll get the points. If you haven't had the chance to prepare or memorize a monologue, audition reading sides will be available for you to read from. What's an audition side? It's a short excerpt that you read to your best ability, in character, from a larger work like a play or musical.
Where can I find a monologue?
